Decorating with Grey

Grey is definitely the on-trend neutral right now. We are seeing it pop up in design magazines, TV shows and more everywhere! It is a fabulously versatile tone that can be subtle, or bold. Many people feel grey is a cold tone that leaves a space feeling clinical and uninviting, but we have to disagree. Grey can be tinted to be a warm hue with a yellow or brown undertone, or it can be a cool hue with a blue or purple undertone. But whether you choose cool or warm, grey doesn't have to be cold.

We have selected a few examples from the web to show, how when done right, grey can be an amazing background, or even accent to your home.

What do you think? Will grey be the new neutral in your home?

Interiors Inspired by Autumn

One thing I think we often miss out on as Aussies is the joy of four distinct seasons. With the arrival of Autumn, not much has changed weather-wise. We are still have fairly warm weather and the leaves haven't started to change yet, but just because the weather hasn't changed, doesn't mean we can't bring the feeling of this richly coloured season into our homes!

Autumn colours are some of the most beautiful and densely saturated colours on the spectrum. Gold, wine, plum, chocolate - all sumptuous colours that can make our homes feel warm, welcoming and enveloping! Mix these colours with a shot of emerald green, or turquoise and they really sing!

Autumn colours and textures work wonderfully in both traditional, modern and contemporary designs, as the images above show and there is sure to be a combination that works for you! So, why not bring the season into your home and enjoy a change of environment even now before the natural world gets into full Autumn fling!

Decorating with Emerald - Pantone's Colour of 2013

Pantone is THE authority on colour. The Pantone System is the standardised colour mixing system across the globe whether it be for print, interiors or fashion. Each year Pantone choose a colour they feel will be big for that year. For 2013 they have chosen Emerald Green.

Lively. Radiant. Lush… Emerald is a colour of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony. It is the perfect colour for many different styles of decorating, from classic country manor to bold decorative mod style, Emerald is relevant to these and everything in between!

For a classic style, combine classic furniture, perhaps like this stunning emerald sofa, with rich colours such as other gem tones such as ruby, sapphire, topaz and onyx and a splash or bronze, copper or platinum. Mix it up with an unexpected contemporary art piece like wallstudio's Line Dye canvas in Teal. While not specifically emerald green, this canvass will tie in beautifully with the rich blue/green hues.

Think a little bit Hollywood, a little bit Manhattan chic Mad Men style for this sophisticated look. Lots of white and glass and metal tones with splashes of emerald and pops of pink. Pink and green are great friends after all! Our Pink Cockatoo canvas is the perfect addition to this scheme with it's minimal styling and unexpected mid-century, almost pop style design.

A rich, moody space can be created by using emerald en masse and pairing it with black and navy and a little white to break up the dark tones. Add in bold pattern like the Candy Stripes canvas in Navy and a little sparkle and you have a room that will feel cosy, enveloping and daring all at once!

Enhance your sense of well-being at home by rejuvenating the interior with Emerald paint, accents and accessories. This jewel-like hue will create a luxurious feel in an entryway, powder room, dining room or study, and bring life to a living room as an accent wall. Add a splash of color to the kitchen and dining room areas with Emerald dinnerware, stemware and appliances.
